September 21-26 — Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Livestock Exposition @ Omaha, NE
SHEEP/MEAT GOAT — The Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Livestock Exposition will be September 21-26 at the Qwest Center in Omaha. More than 2,000 4-H famlies from an 8-state region participate in this competition every year, which includes a Market Lamb and Meat Goat show, as well as a unique program to introduce youth to the sheep project – the Lamb Challenge. October 8-9 — Nebraska Sheep & Goat Conference @ Clay Center, NE
SHEEP/DAIRY & MEAT GOAT – The 2010 Nebraska Sheep & Goat Conference, a joint annual convention of the Nebraska Sheep & Goat Producers and the Nebraska Dairy Goat Association (NDGA), will be held on October 8-9 in Clay County.
Activities will begin Friday afternoon, October 8, with a tour of the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center west of Clay Center, with a speaker on the latest research in sheep genetics following. There will then be a farm tour and the NS&GP annual meeting at the American Legion in Sutton. Hotel reservations can be made at Clay Center, Sutton, or Hastings.
Saturday activities will continue at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Clay Center, NE, with a variety of speakers, demonstrations, tours, vendors and informational booths, a breeder’s showcase, silent and live auctions, door prizes, the NDGA annual meeting, and more — followed immediately with a special “Growing Your Rural Business” Marketing Seminar. SHEEP/DAIRY & MEAT GOAT – The Nebraska Sheep & Goat Producers and the Nebraska Dairy Goat Association are co-sponsoring a “Growing Your Rural Business” Marketing Seminar at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Clay Center, NE, immediately following the 2010 Nebraska Sheep & Goat Conference.
A business consultant with roots in the goat industry, Ellie Winslow, is flying in from California to share proven tips to improve management and marketing of agricultural and other rural businesses.
